Spring Soccer

"Friendships born on the field of athletic strife are the real gold of competition.  Awards become corroded friends gather not dust."  -Jesse Owens

Spring Soccer is for players born in 2006-2015, excluding Seniors in High School.  Spring Soccer gives our players the chance to learn more about the game thorough additional instruction, greater skill development, tougher competition and the responsibility and pride of representing our community.  Spring Soccer provides more opportunity for learning the game with two practice evenings a week and match each weekend.

Spring Soccer teams represent our community and will play surrounding area teams as part of U.S. Youth Soccer and PA West's Lake District.   It is important to note that this is still a RECREATIONAL, not Competitive league.

Spring Soccer teams are formed based on a combination of age and experience.

A player 12 years of age may play on an 13 and "under" or U13 team or could play "up", based on their skill level, on a U15 team (or 15 years of age and under).  MAYSA's Spring Soccer usually includes U18, U15, U13, U11 & U10.

Final team composition is determined based on registrations and may be comprised of boys only, girls only or co-ed teams.  Each year, MAYSA's spring season provides about 100 children and youths playing on U11 through U18 teams the opportunity to learn more about the game.

Our main objective, when determining team rosters, is for all kids to have a team. If a player, during a previous season, played up in a higher age group, there is no guarantee that player will again "play up".  Often the only way to insure an additional team is for a particular age group (e.g., U11, U13) may be to have a player, who previously played up, play with in his age group.   The creation of team rosters has much more to do with making sure everyone who signs up can play, then it does with creating the most talented team.  Our primary goal for the season is player development and providing the chance for the players to continue to work on further developing the fundamental skills necessary for success at the middle school and high school level.

There is also the possibility to play in some other tournaments throughout the spring.  The cost of these tournaments is not included in the registration fee so there will be a small additional fee.

During the regular spring season there will be up to an 8-game schedule, teams will travel no more than 4x to away games at the following locations/clubs within the Lake District

Brookville Meadville

Clarion River Valley Oil Region (Franklin/Oil City)

Greenville Penn Crest (Maplewood)

ISA (Erie) Shenango Valley (Hermitage)

Our Spring Soccer season usually starts in late March with practices, games begin in early April, and concludes in mid June, with an optional (3) day tournament in Edinboro PA hosting every level of play.  Win or lose this is a great soccer experience.
