Youth Refs

"The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow." -unknown

MAYSA's Youth Referee Program works to help our young referees develop a strong work ethic, leadership attributes and a knowledge of the rules of the game.  Youth referees serve as positive role models as well as provide an invaluable service to their community (and get paid!).  Any youth reaching the age of 14 is eligible to enroll in the program.  Players/youth under the age of 14 participating in the Club's soccer programs (In-House or Travel) can gain experience refereeing our In-House matches.

MAYSA's Youth Referee Program operates as part of PA West Soccer Association's Youth Referee Program which is governed by the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) Referee Program.  Many of the soccer leagues around the area would not be able to cover all the matches but not for the involvement of youth referees.  Rodney Goehring is the Cooridnator of MAYSA's Youth Referee Program.  If you are interested in learning more about MAYSA's Youth Referee Program, email us.

Each year the PA West Soccer Association selects a single Male and Female Referee, from over thousands of youth referees, as its Referee Of The Year.  The Youth Referee Of The Year recipients are awarded for their dedication to the game, their outstanding personal accomplishments, serving as role models to other youth referees and players and for their excellence as recognized by their adult referee peers and mentors.  Youth referees often go on to referee championship games at the regional and state level, often being invited to travel to other states as part of a team of referees during championship play.

MAYSA is very proud to have had three of its youth referees honored by PA West in recent years.  The following MAYSA youth referees have been selected from among thousands of referees by the PA West Soccer Association as:
