Spring Soccer Parent Reminders and Checklist:

1. Spring PracticeAll practices are held from 6:00-7:30PM at Cool Spring Fitness unless otherwise indicated by your team's coach.

a. U15 & U18 Boys:    Tuesdays & Fridays

b. All other teams:      Wednesdays & Fridays

2. Season Schedules and Season Schedule App: Season matches start Sunday, April 12th.  Updated PA West schedule is below.  Always consult with your team's coach to verify any late Match time or venue changes.

a. Spring Match Schedules

b. Download PA West's Mobile Schedule Mobile here - After you download the app, click on 2015 Spring PA West District 7 - Lake option.  You will see Schedule options for our U10, U12, U15, etc…This app includes the schedule for the spring season.  The app is handy and currently has the Match dates, opponent and home/away information.  The PA West App does not yet have the final start times for each match.  Again, check with your coach for final Match times.

(1). The mobile app has a better easier-to-use presentation than the PA West website.
(2) If you use PA West's mobile app or their online schedules, please do so as a season planning tool.  Always check with your coach with regards to weekly match times, place and weather conditions (see below for more on weather policy).

3.  Spring "Travel" Player Uniforms & Equipment
Every player should have or should have ordered as part of registration an MAYSA "travel" Columbia Blue jersey.  A player's jersey number will stay with them throughout their time with MAYSA. Black shorts, black soccer socks, shin guards (worn under the socks) and soccer cleats (i.e., no toe cleat - different from baseball and football cleats) are required.  Finally, each player should bring a proper size ball to ever practice and game:

U10 & U12 Players use a SIZE 4 soccer ball
U14, U15, U16 and U18 use a SIZE 5 soccer ball

If you have further questions, check out our FAQs on the Spring Soccer page of our website or EmailUs.

4. Weather Policy:
Soccer is played and practiced in the rain, but not if lightening is present.  For the most part, the kids don't mind a little rain and mud, they seem to enjoy an occasional Match in rain.  Most of the time, 99%, we make weather related decisions at the fields.  If you do not received a text or email, please plan on getting to the fields.  On evenings in which in-climate weather is predicted, please do not "drop off" your children.  If practice is cancelled, you'll need to be there.
If during practice or matches there is lightening present, then we will ask everyone to leave the field, get in their cars.  We may begin games again after a 30 minute break.  More at U.S. Youth Soccer Lightning Safety Outdoors and P.A. West Field Safety.

5. Field Safety (Parking & Crosswalk):
During the season, please park in the two gravel lots closest to the Soccer Fields or at the far end (North end) of the fields.  Please do not park in the paved fitness center lots (closest to the fitness center).  Cool Springs Fitness has added a Crosswalk between the two gravel overflow parking lots.  We ask that everyone use the new crosswalk when entering and leaving the fields.  Also, please drive with great care when entering or leaving the Fitness Center on practice and match days as children will be entering and leaving the fields.

6. Field Conduct:
MAYSA soccer is an instructional recreational program.  We strive to insure family-friendly environment for our players, coaches, referees and families.  There is no smoking and no alcohol permitted while at the fields.  Also, abusive or negative comments directed at the players, coaches or referees will not be tolerated.  Help us maintain an environment in which our players can play, learn and grow.

7. U10 Tournament this Saturday April 11th
U10 only - The MAYSA Spring 2015 U10 Festival Tournament will be held at our home fields.  Each year MAYSA hosts a spring kickoff tournament just prior to our Club's offical scheduled first set of matches.  This year our U10 tournament will be held on Saturday, April 11th.  For details, visit our Recent Announcements at www.MercerSoccer.org

8. New PA Child Protection Law:
MAYSA coaches and assistant coaches have either already met or are in the process of obtaining all the new PA Child Protection Law clearances.  Each coach and assistant will submit their clearances to our governing organization (i.e., PA West, U.S. Youth Soccer and U.S. Soccer) through MAYSA's online system as required.  Learn more here.

9. Coach Training:
Parent should know that PA West, U.S. Youth Soccer and U.S. Soccer mandate all coaches and assistants be trained in coaching youths.  MAYSA coaches and assistants were among the first participating in the new U.S. Youth Soccer and U.S. Soccer training courses mandated for 2015.  The objectives of the courses include:

- To help coaches better understand the PHYSIOLOGICAL  as well as the PSYCHOLOGICAL development of youth-aged players.
- To prepare coaches for training players by expanding the players technical abilities through games and activities.
- To introduce attacking and defending tactics
  . . . and much more.

All MAYSA coaches and assistants have already complied or are working towards meeting all their training requirements.  Learn more here.

10.  Team Rosters: If you haven't received a Team Roster, please EmailUs

To receive the latest Club updates and information via MAYSA's Text Message Alerts, simply text followmaysa to 84483.  You should receive an immediate confirmation.  If not, let us know at EmailUs@MercerSoccer.org

Honor the game,
