MAYSA 2021 Spring Return to Play (RTP) Guidelines

Introduction & Overview

This document is intended to outline the procedures that the club, its participants, and administrators will follow to ensure a safe playing environment.  The expectation is to comply with the intent of the CDC, PA Department of Health, PA West, and USYS guidelines for returning to youth sports play as they apply to our club.


o   Bring and only use their own drink & equipment.

o   Use hand sanitizer before entering the practice or game area.

o   Keep equipment out of the field of play and at least 6’ away from other players equipment.

o   No handshakes, high-5’s or group celebrations

o   Do not touch anyone else’s soccer ball with their bare hands.


o   Ensure your child is healthy and their personal equipment is sanitized before coming to activities.

o   Notify a coach or administrator immediately if your child becomes ill and contact your health care provider for guidance.

o   Face coverings – over the mouth and nose:


·         Required for all players when entering and exiting the field area.

·         For guidance on mask use during practice activities, please refer to:



o   Use hand sanitizer before entering the field and do not touch player equipment during practice.

o   ‘Check-In’ your team - temperature check must be < 100.4 & note who is present & missing.

o   Handle all movable equipment (cones, pugs, etc…) without help from players.

o   Wear a face covering as indicated in:  


o   Do not re-use any scrimmage vests worn by a player unless sanitized.

o   Avoid running drills where the kids need to stand close together waiting their turn to participate.

o   Provide a location for each player to go during breaks that keeps them >6ft. away from other kids.


o   One occupant bathroom located near south field, hand sanitizer inside, disinfect after each practice.

COVID Positive Response

o   Coach or administrator will notify the group the player has been in contact with through the Affinity system without giving the name of the ill individual.

o   Those notified should avoid training until guidance from local or state health authority’s is followed.

o   Club administrator will contact local PA Department of Health for guidance.

o   Sanitize any common areas before returning other participants to training (i.e bathroom).
