Not much left to say except, thanks.

Below are a few year-end highlights.  As one of our past MAYSA Presidents said, "the most important highlights are possibly the things we do not calculate and do not include in any list: the value of lasting relationships, community involvement, mentoring youth and providing a positive recreational and competitive environments for the youth of the area, these things would be hard to calculate."
2016 Season Highlights:

Soccer (In-House and Travel) Participation:
  • MAYSA celebrated its 27th year anniversary.
  • The 2016 Fall and Spring Soccer registration numbers again increased over the previous year.
  • For the 2016 Spring (Travel) Summer Pickup, and Fall season (In-House and Travel), approximately 275* players participated in our Fall  and Spring Soccer programs, which makes MAYSA the largest youth sports organization in the area. *Exact participation number will be calculated shortly.
  • MAYSA participates this year came from 5 surrounding school districts.
  • MAYSA provides soccer essentially year-round to children and youth of the Mercer Area: Fall Soccer (In-House and Travel), Winter Pickup (grade3-6), Spring Soccer (Travel U10-U18) and Summer Pickup (K-2, U14 & U18).
  • MAYSA has had and currently has players playing at the State Cup level
  • MAYSA has several players who have played and or plan to play at the College level
  • MAYSA has previous players and coaches who went on to coach at the College level
Youth Referee Program:
  • In-House Referees: There were 12 middle school and U12 age referee volunteers this year.
  • MAYSA's Youth Referee Program (minimum age 14):  This year MAYSA's youth referee's program had 10 participants who trained and ref all across western PA.
  • In the recent past, PA West's 2011-2012, 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 State Youth Referee Of The Year came from MAYSA Youth Referee Program.
  • Our coaching, assistant and adult volunteers again exceeded 50 volunteers.  More than a few adult volunteers participated in MAYSA as a youth.
  • Pre-season Parent/Coach Clinic and resources (again) provided by MAYSA to all coaches
  • Over the past two seasons MAYSA coaches rank among the most "licensed" coaching corps in the western PA area and have participated more than any other PA West organization in the various U.S. Youth Soccer's Coaching Certification Program.
Partnerships (with High School and Cool Springs Fitness):
  • The coaching staffs of all Mercer Area School District (school) teams are made up of past MAYSA players or past & current MAYSA coaches.
  • High school and middle school coaches assist MAYSA's Player and coaching development.
  • The Mens Varsity team again this year has continued its local dominance.
  • Mercer Men's Varsity team is will again vying for a Regional Title and hopefully a District-10 Championship bid.
  • MAYSA is it a 501c3 non-profit and operates completely separately from our partner Cool Springs Fitness.
  • MAYSA is solely responsible and manages the fields, equipment and all field maintenance (i.e., seeding, fertilizing, aeration, etc…).
  • MAYSA owns and operates its own Concession Trailer.
We could go on with the list, but these are the high points.

I encourage any parent interested in helping MAYSA continue to provide Soccer programs (both In-House and Travel) to attend our Year-End wrap up meeting held in late November.  It is a good time to meet all the folks involved in MAYSA, learn more and have any questions about MAYSA answered.   Of course, like all youth organizations, MAYSA is always looking for a few folks who may like to get more involved, take on a slightly larger role and commit to helping us continue to bring soccer to the community over the next couple of years.  By attending the wrap-up meeting you are not committing to anything but simply learning more about MAYSA.  We'll have a date for the meeting in the near future.  EmailUs@MercerSoccer.org if you are interested in attending.
